Chantelle Cameron vs Katie Taylor 2 odds

Chantelle Cameron – (-190)
Katie Taylor – (+165)

Cameron comes into the fight as an undefeated professional fighter and undisputed world champion with a record of 18-0, with eight knockouts and ten decision wins.

She won her first world title with a decision win over Adriana Araujo back in October 2020, and then defended the belt with a 5th round knockout win over Melissa Hernandez the following May. Cameron then added the IBF belt to her WBC crown with a decision win over Mary McGee and defended the belts by dominating Victoria Bustos.

A huge fight with Jessica McCaskill in Abu Dhabi saw her win the vacant WBA, WBO and IBO belts, before the victory over Taylor saw her retain all her belts as the undisputed light-welterweight queen.

Taylor was on the verge of becoming a two-weight undisputed world champion when she took on Cameron in their first meeting, leaving her professional record at 22-1 with 16 decisions in her career.

The last time Taylor earned a knockout victory was back in March 2019 when she stopped Rose Volante to move to 13-0. Since then every fight has gone the distance, with victories over Delfine Persoon x2, Christina Linardatou, Miriam Gutierrez, Natasha Jonas, Jennifer Han, Firuza Sharipova, Amanda Serano and Karen Carabajal.

Chantelle Cameron vs Katie Taylor preview

Katie Taylor was initially supposed to rematch Amanda Serrano after defeating her in their legendary 2022 bout, but after Serrano pulled out with a hand injury, she went after Chantelle Cameron and suffered the first defeat of her career.

If she wants to claim her win back and win the belts, she is going to need to rely on her excellent boxing skills and championship pedigree to turn back the challenge of a dangerous world champion. Taylor’s skill is matched by her grit. She fights her way inside and can be a handful when she gets in with her fast hands and excellent defense. When she’s on the outside, Taylor can expertly move herself in and out of danger with her fast hands and footwork.

Ultimately, Taylor can be coaxed off her game at times, but she is so tough and durable that she isn’t afraid to mix it up. She’ll find it harder to do that at 37, so relying on intelligence rather than grit is the way to go here especially considering we saw the size advantage of Cameron in the first fight.

Cameron is coming into hostile territory against an all-time great, but we have seen her deal with it with ease before. Youth, reach, power, and size are all still on Cameron’s side and the way she overpowered Taylor in the first fight shows you that it seems unlikely this fight goes any other way.

She has to be careful not to get carried away and let ego step im during the heat of the moment, because as good as Cameron is, falling behind a tactically sound fighter like Taylor is a sure way to lose a title. Cameron is strong enough physically to be able to go the full ten rounds and land the more eye-catching shots which gives her a huge edge in this fight.
