Carlos Alcaraz – (+225)

Alcaraz won his first ever grand slam back in the US in 2022, and he built on that in 2023 with a stunning year.

He didn’t play in the 2023 Australian Open, but he reached the semi-finals at both the French Open and US Open and won Wimbledon to really prove that he is one of the best players in the world today.

At the time of writing the Spaniard is the World No.2, losing the No.1 spot to Djokovic after the Serb won the US Open, making it three Grand Slams in one year in the process.

At +225 there is decent value in backing him, and barring a stunning upset many people will be predicting that there’s another rematch between himself and Djokovic in the final again. He’s never gone beyond the third round in Melbourne, but it will be two years since his last appearance and he has improved immeasurably since then.

So if you’re in that group too then you’re basically getting +225 on Alcaraz to beat him in another Grand Slam final, which is great value.

Daniil Medvedev – (+600)

Outside of the US Open, where Medvedev has had his best successes at Grand Slam level with a victory in 2021 and two finals, it’s Australia where he shines best.

In 2023 the 27-year-old appeared in all four grand slam tournaments and once again shone in America where he reached the final but was beaten by Djokovic. In Australia however he made it to only the third-round, which was a huge disappointment after back-to-back finals in 2021 and 2022.

Medvedev will be confident that his huge serve and good footwork will stand him in good stead to compete at the business end of the tournament once more.

There’s no doubting that a hard court is where he’s most at home and he will be hoping to start 2024 with a bang to show that he’s ready to compete at the top of the sport once again, having been the world number one in 2022.

A lack of momentum means he’s not the favorite, but a shock elsewhere or a real good run of form for him early doors could see him emerge as a real contender once again.

Rafael Nadal – (+2500)

One of the all-time greats has already made it clear that he plans to retire in 2024 after a real battle with injuries over the last few years.

He still managed to win the Australian Open and French Open in 2022, but he was eliminated in the second round in Melbourne in 2023 and then didn’t appear in another grand slam tournament all year.

Only Djokovic has ever won more men’s Grand Slam tournaments than Nadal in the history of the sport, and he will be looking to end his career on a high with another one to his tally.

The chances are slim though considering he has only won twice in Australia before and lost four finals in the process, but if you like the idea of a fairytale ending to a storybook career then there is some solid value in backing the Spaniard.
